It's been a while since I had an art project. I kinda miss having you know, personal goals.

I'm supposed to be in some horrid suburb of Houston at someone else's Christmas party right now. And I really don't want to go but I should. I guess I'll take a sketchbook, or something.

You guys let me know if this keeps on showing up on your friends page... :/

Rules, Regulations, & Conditions:
1// You must create one artwork for each of the themes listed.
2// Pictures are only to be done by traditional media or paint programs/ e.g photoshop.
3// These must be your pieces of art that you made, and abide by all d.a policies.
4// There is no time limit, enjoy.
5// Keep the list updated, when you complete a piece of art, put a strike through it and a link next to it.

Completed: 21/100
In Progress: 0/100

Resolution scale, complete

I had to do a rush job on this today. Otherwise it wouldn't be nearly this sloppy. But now I think it's kinda too grisly looking... but oh well, too late to change. It's getting printed at full resolution onto a mounted, laminated poster as of tomorrow.

Detail of all the fun grisly bits. I had a lot of human body references for this one and I wish I had more time to really perfect the layering. I don't think I should've left the muscles so transparent - they're barely visible. And I didn't align things properly. But anyway. What's kind of cool is looking at how my art style has visibly changed over the last two years. No, seriously, just check it out - particularly in the color choices and use of detail. There's more articulation and the colors are more impure.

(I wonder if that means I'm more impure, but articulate. That would... actually be kind of funny.)

I have to go make some virus stock now. *sigh* It's a quarter to 7, and I have to go centrifuge some cells and lyse them and then spin them down again. And I popped a bike tire yesterday so I gotta catch the bus home if I can't find anyone to give me a ride.

God I can't wait for the weekend.

Untitled, but nicknamed Petals

I so wanted this to be part of the 100x, but none of the titles seemed to fit. I mean, I really shouldn't be drawing things and then selecting titles anyway. Concept should not follow execution. So I'm just going to leave it untitled.

I wouldn't call this a doodling, but bear in mind not much thought went into it either. Basically I was trying to illustrate one of the themes from the 100x challenge, failed, and then took it in an entirely different direction and pretty much did whatever I felt like.

The streaks beneath her eyes are probably b/c I've been watching too much Heroes. Maya's power is fascinating! And her brother said her name so hot. "Mai-jah." He should come sing soothing songs to meeeeeee.....

Morrigan, Finished.

  • Nov. 17th, 2008 at 6:08 PM
I had originally planned to post some pictures from my trip to the Griffith Observatory and some of the Nigerian food that Ril made yesterday (which is strangely similar to Indian food, actually. Tomato puree + curry powder? Yeah, no matter which way you cook it, it tastes Indian to me.) but uh, it's 6 already, and I don't wanna.

So anyway, have the finished Morrigan image.

Just shy of 5 months since I last used this tag. I swear I'd be so much more prolific if it weren't for that damnable sex drive.

Yes yes, posting like a madwoman. Hush, you.

Chun Li vs Cammy Page 18 )

Good page (time-wise. Art-wise: average page). I think I just did this in the last... 2-3 hrs, from start to finish. I'm starting to run out of story (although some may say I ran out of story a long time ago) and I've only got maybe 1 more page of storyline before it kinda... dissolves and I don't know how to handle the story anymore.

Hm, maybe it'll solve itself if I keep working, or something.

Yarr, this update is late, but I've been busy this week. :)

:P

Yarr. Originally I was gonna draw a normal rainbow but the paintsplatter was much more fun. Digital art lets me do stuff I'd never attempt in real life... like I would never splatter paint across a canvas I had already worked for hours on IRL. I don't care if it may look better - I'm not taking that chance!

Whoo. I really wanted to get this out sooner, but looking back, I put out page 16 exactly one week ago so I'm actually right on schedule... that is, if I had a schedule, I would be right on it.

You know, when someone hates something particular about their appearance and obsesses over it in a manner that causes great social and psychological distress, it's called Body Dysmorphic Disorder. It's characterized by focusing on something that's slightly less than perfect or perhaps even invisible to most people, but for the sufferer is a source of great social anxiety and shame. There's a correlation between the amount of attention that someone with BDD pays to detail - namely that they utilize almost exclusively the detail-oriented portion of their brain (left hemisphere) and have limited or no activity at all in the cortex responsible for processing the "big picture." Whether this is a cause or an effect still remains to be shown.

Anyway, when an artist does this towards their artwork, it's considered normal.

I give you page 16. )

Rrgh. I kinda feel like I have to put aside my own issues for art, which is funny, because art is how I deal with some of my issues.

...I mean, not that too many people really consider a fancomic based on Street Fighter art, per se.
